The Tenth Lunar Month tradition, also known as the "Sart Duan Sib" tradition, is a time-honored ritual of paying respects to ancestors passed down from generation to generation. It reflects the practice of honoring and showing gratitude to the deceased, especially among the people of Nakhon Si Thammarat, influenced by a blend of Brahmanism and Buddhism. The main purpose is to dedicate merits to the departed souls and relatives who have been released from the cycle of reincarnation on the evening of the 15th day of the tenth lunar month, allowing them to return to the human world. This tradition is observed annually on the 15th day of the tenth lunar month, and in this year, it falls on October 14, 2566.

Wat Phra Mahathat Woramahawihan, located in the Mueang Nakhon Si Thammarat District, is the temple that plays a significant role in this tradition. Locally known as Wat Phra That, it is an ancient and sacred place with a remarkable symbol—the golden chedi that enshrines the relics of Lord Buddha (the Emerald Buddha). It is considered one of Thailand's most venerable and ancient chedis. Apart from being the spiritual center of Nakhon Si Thammarat, it is also a place where Buddhists from around the world gather to meditate and make merits. During the Tenth Lunar Month tradition, there are various activities held for 20 days and 20 nights, including the traditional ceremony procession, puppet contests, traditional poetry contests, youth competitions, Talung (shadow play) shows, children's puppet contests, Thai literature contests, and Talung battle competitions. In addition to the main events, there are other activities for everyone to enjoy, such as concerts by leading artists, a shopping and food fair, which will be held from September 25, 2566, to October 14, 2566.
